About Angela, the Mu and the Pink Haired Girl....
The passion to write, create, enhance and transform has always
defined Angela’s spirit. Her various written and visual works have been exhibited and published for the last
20 years in the forms of wall and ceiling murals, canvas, and cartoon strips and newspaper columns. The subject
matter has ranged from realism to pop, comical to decorating, and spiritual to whimsical.
Decorating, creating
and writing for children, and being a mother has always been Angela’s bliss, and so the Mu were born.
The story of the Mu…
At the age of 41 Angela was blessed with another child. While decorating the
nursery she quickly whipped up a series of simple paintings of some silly birds.
When her youngest son was
born he was nicknamed “Mu” by his father. Mu giggled and cooed over the birds his mother painted for him,
so they were promptly referred to as the “MU birds”.
In the spring of 2009 Angela had an exhibit
of her work scheduled for a 3rd Friday art walk event at a local bookstore. She was struggling with the decision
over which paintings to put into the exhibit, when her life-partner suggested showing the collection of Mu Bird paintings from the nursery. She exhibited the Mu and people loved them, young and old. They said they made them feel happy.
Because of such a positive reaction to the Mu, Angela began to paint and draw more of them. This led to
the idea of a book for young readers, where she combined an earlier character of hers, The Pink Haired Girl, the
Mu, and some Faeries. What fun! She has also written and illustrated a “Field Guide of the MU”, as
told by the Kat Sinclaire, The Pink Haired Girl. This is a companion book for the young reader book.
Angela
is attuned to the Master level of Reiki and attuned to the advanced level of IET© Integrated Energy Therapy. She
uses both of these healing modalities when she creates. She feels that the energy remains in the work and is felt
when it is viewed and that energy transmits through the space wherever her work is displayed.
Angela resides
in Northeastern Pennsylvania. in a cozy farmhouse with her life partner Douglas and their three youngest children. She
can be found most days sipping ginger tea and drawing silly Mu birds or writing the adventures of Kat Sinclaire:
The Pink Haired Girl.
